Please help find justice for Guido

GuidoVelez

Guido shortly before his death at just 23.

Background

On June 24, 2019 around 8:30pm, shots rang out at the back parking lot of Ashton Creek Apartments (now renamed Oaks at New Hope). The apartment complex is located in downtown Lawrenceville, GA at 239 New Hope Rd. The Lawrecenville Police arrived to find Guido deceased in his car (a black 2017 Ford Focus) from a gunshot wound to his chest. One suspect, Edward "Hotrod" Jerod Shackelford (23 at the time) was identified and arrested, but was later released from jail due to undisclosed prosecution problems by the District Attorney's Office. There was a second suspect that likely fired the fatal shot that killed Guido, but police failed to gather enough evidence to make an arrest. The second suspect's whereabouts are currently unknown, but he may have moved to Florida. The second suspect was described as a tall and thin black male with dreadlocks. This location was known for illegal drug and gang activity. The Lawrenceville Police Department is seeking any information that will assist in the investigation.
